When the cows get decorated and you can hear the cow bells everywhere it is time once again for the “Almabtrieb”, when the cows leave their summer pastures. This event has a high cultural value for all the farmers.

The “Almabtrieb” means the end of summer. The cows leave their summer pastures to spend the winter in the valley. The touristic region “Tux-Finkenberg” this event is celebrated like a true holiday. The animals are decorated with flowers, twigs and ribbons but only if no animals has been lost during the summer. The typical headdresses are aloine roses, mountain pines, carline thistles and silk flowers.
