Cattle drives in Tux-Finkenberg

When the cows get decorated and you can hear the cowbells everywhere it is time once again for the cattle drives, when the cows leave their summer pastures. This event has a high cultural value for all the farmers.

The cattle drives mark the end of summer. The cows leave their summer pastures to spend the winter in the valley. In the tourist region “Tux-Finkenberg” this event is celebrated like a true holiday. The animals are decorated with flowers, twigs and ribbons but only if no animals were lost during the summer. The typical headdresses are alpine roses, mountain pines, carline thistles and silk flowers.
