The magnificent natural spectacle of waterfalls thundering down the mountainside into the valley below is a sight not to be missed.
Visitors will be captivated by the Schraubenfall and Kesselfall Waterfalls, with their naturally formed granite bridges, caves and ravines. The Waterfall Trail with its breathtaking scenery leads past a naturally split stone block, which reminds one of a whale’s mouth, and is fittingly known as the »Whale Fish Mouth«.
Route: Start at the bottom of the Hintertuxer Glacier Lifts – footpath no. 526 past the Kessel Waterfall – gravel road – footpath no. 526 in the direction of the Spannagelhaus – footpath no. 16, signpost Sommerberg – Tuxbach-Klamm – Talkessel Waldeben. Descent: footpath no. 16 to Hintertux, or climb to the Sommerbergalm – descent with the Hintertuxer Glacier Lifts.
