Experience a winter vacation without skiing in the Zillertal
Outdoor fitness & enjoying nature All in One
Cross-country skiing
You don’t always have to aim high. Especially not when the good things in life are so close at hand. Take, for example, a freshly groomed cross-country trail that winds its way past the Tuxerhof. Glide weightlessly through the snow-covered winter landscape, feel the silence of the valley – a winter day could hardly be more peaceful.
Cross-country skiing is both a nature experience and a full-body workout all in one. 30 km of groomed trails await you in the Tux Valley, for both classic and skate-style skiers, from December through spring, thanks to the elevation ranging from 1,300 to 1,450 meters.

A magical winter experience in Lanersbach
Ice Skating
Ice skating doesn’t require any professional skills – just a good attitude. And there’s plenty of that at the ice rink in Lanersbach. Here, the whole family can take to the ice, whether with the elegance of a figure skater or with wobbly knees and lots of laughter. Don’t have skates? You can easily rent them on site.
If you’d rather aim than glide, three curling rinks await you right next door. Curling is all about precision, tactics, and – above all – a ton of fun.
And for those who can’t get enough during the day: the ice rink is lit up in the evening. Then the ice belongs to the night owls, with a starry sky above and the Tux Valley all around.
A must-do on a winter vacation in Tux
Stop at a mountain hut
You’ve got to take a break! Not just for your legs, but for your mind, too. The many huts around the Hintertux Glacier are the perfect place to reflect on the day’s first impressions and refuel for the rest of the run. Fresh mountain air, hearty treats, and the panoramic views – a break like this is always welcome on a winter vacation in Tux.
A break at a mountain lodge is as much a part of a good day of skiing as fresh wax is to the base of your skis.

Winter Hiking
Away from the slopes, a winter wonderland awaits you – one where it’s all about the crunch of snow underfoot and the crisp, refreshing mountain air.
When winter hiking in the Tux Valley, you set the pace. 68 km of cleared or groomed winter hiking trails wind through the snow-covered mountains, whether on flat terrain through the valley or high up in the ski area, offering views of glaciers, peaks, and the vast Tux Valley.
What sets winter hiking apart from everything else: You don’t need anything. No equipment, no prior experience, no planning. Just good shoes and the certainty that your mind will be clear again afterward.

Snow shoe hiking
Quiet side valleys, powder slopes, tracks in the snow that are yours alone: snowshoeing in the Tux Valley is a winter adventure in its purest form.
Everything you need can be rented at the Tuxerhof at any time. Our tip: book an experienced guide right away. For safety in unfamiliar terrain and for experiences you’d never have on your own.
Tobogganing in the Tux Valley, day & night
Tobogganing
There are three natural toboggan runs in the Tux Valley, each starting from a mountain hut with food and drink service: the Bichlalm, the Grieralm, or the Höllensteinhütte. Toboggans can be rented on site.
Our tip: Wind down the evening at the hut before heading down the illuminated toboggan run. The combination of Tyrolean cuisine, fresh mountain air, and a nighttime toboggan run is hard to beat – and even harder to forget.
If you don't smile while sledding, you haven't understood winter.
