From small inn to alpine hideaway
Our story
The beginning of a special story
1930:
When Wilhelm and Maria Schneeberger opened the Tuxer Hof inn with eight double rooms, Tux was still far from being an international holiday destination. Winter tourism was hardly even a concept. What began back then was above all one thing: a family business built on hard work, courage, and a genuine desire to warmly welcome guests.
The first steps of growth
1951:
With the increasing number of guests, the hotel also grew. The Tuxerhof was expanded to 25 beds. Even then, the attitude that still characterizes the business today was evident: Those who stand still, fall behind.
The inn is being transformed into a holiday home.
1964:
Tourism in the valley continues to develop slowly, and with it, the Tuxerhof. It now offers 50 beds. The family continuously invests in the future of the hotel, laying the foundation for decades to come.
Comfort is moving in
1984:
With an underground parking garage, hotel lobby, and indoor swimming pool, a new era begins. The Tuxerhof grows to 96 beds and evolves from a traditional inn into a modern holiday hotel. This is an important time in which many decisions are made that will shape the future.
Perhaps the most important decision in hotel history
2004:
The Schneeberger family recognized early on that while the glacier and the ski area were important, the Tuxerhof needed its own distinct identity. The answer was wellness.
With the opening of the Relaxwelten Alpin Spa, spanning over 2,000 m², one of Tyrol's most modern wellness facilities at the time was created. The investment was substantial, as was the risk. But it transformed the Tuxerhof permanently, making it a pioneer in alpine wellness hotels.

2015:
With HimmelREICH, an exclusive retreat with spectacular views of the Tyrolean mountains is created. A place for peace, privacy, and special vacation moments – all in the spirit of understated luxury.
The next major milestone
2018:
After years of successful growth, the largest renovation in the hotel's recent history took place. One-third of the building was completely rebuilt.
The result was the current entrance area, the fireplace lounge, new restaurants and dining rooms, modern guest rooms, and the sky pool with views of the Tux Alps. The renovation also marked a generational shift: Andrea Schneeberger increasingly assumed responsibility for the hotel's future and introduced new ideas.
Even more space for enjoyment
2021:
With twelve new rooms and suites, a panoramic infrared sauna, and a gourmet market, the vacation experience is further enhanced. The focus is increasingly on quality, individuality, and the little details that make a stay special.
Wellness reimagined
2023:
With the opening of the new sauna house in the garden, the Alpin Spa will offer another highlight. The spacious event sauna provides room for daily infusions, rituals, and extraordinary sauna experiences. Wellness becomes not just relaxation, but also an experience.
More freedom. More opportunities.
2024:
With the new PRIVATE HOMES, the Tuxerhof expands its offerings to include a living concept for guests who desire even more space, privacy, and independence without having to forgo the amenities of a 5-star hotel.
At the same time, the new family indoor pool creates another space for shared vacation moments. While parents relax, families have even more room to play, splash around, and spend time together.
This expansion symbolizes the Tuxerhof's evolution: recognizing emerging needs early and creating vacation experiences that grow with the guests' desires.
