Autumn adventures around the Tuxerhof
Autumn in the Mountains of the Zillertal
Every season has its own charm and autumn in the Zillertal is especially beautiful. Golden larch trees, bike tours with breathtaking views, golfing in the autumn light or taking your first turns on the Hintertux Glacier. And because the days are getting shorter, there’s more time for the things you usually put off: the Alpin Spa, a deep massage, the sauna, and simply doing nothing. Autumn at the Tuxerhof is the perfect excuse for all of this.
Tradition & Customs
Alpine Cattle Drive in the Zillertal
Every fall, during the Almabtrieb, the festively decorated cows return to the valley, adorned with hand-woven wreaths, traditional headdresses, and bells that can be heard from far away.
And as the animals make their way back to the farm, celebrations are in full swing all around: with Zillertal Krapfen, farmers’ markets, craft stalls, and Alpine music. Thus, the Almabtrieb is not only a beautiful tradition but also one of the most atmospheric fall festivals in the Zillertal.

Trails for every Heart Rate
The Zillertal is one of the major biking regions in the Alps. 1,385 kilometers of bike trails of all difficulty levels wind through the entire valley, up to alpine pastures, into forests and along scenic high-altitude trails.
To ensure you lose as little time as possible between breakfast and the view from the summit, the Tuxerhof offers bikes for rent. If you’d like, you can explore the most beautiful routes with an activity guide or save yourself the initial climb by taking advantage of bike transport on many mountain cable cars.
