So much to do on a summer vacation in the Zillertal

Some summer days call for quiet contemplation, others for butterflies in your stomach. The Zillertal Valley is perfect for both: rafting on the Ziller River, canyoning between rock and water, paragliding with sweeping views of the mountains. This is what summer feels like when it's allowed to be a little wilder, always safely accompanied by experienced outdoor professionals.

An adventure vacation in the Tyrolean Alps

3-2-1 Action

Rafting

If the cold water puts you off rafting, then you’ve never tried it. Navigating through the rapids in an unsinkable inflatable boat is so exciting and fulfilling—in the best possible way—that you won’t even notice when you get wet. The nearby rafting tour departs from Mayrhofen and guarantees maximum fun with no need for a transfer. Never wielded a paddle before? No problem—on these rafting tours during your summer vacation in Tux, you’ll learn in no time. Perfect for beginners and kids.

Canyoning

Follow the water. Take the path it has followed for thousands of years. Experience the world from the perspective of this precious resource. That’s exactly what makes your canyoning trip such an unforgettable experience. First, you’ll take a leisurely walk through the stream bed of the Zemmschlucht until you reach the first crystal-clear pools, known as “Gumpen.” Now the canyoning triathlon begins! It’s all about climbing, jumping, and swimming. Your kids will love it. And so will you!

High ropes course

Does a stroll through the garden sound a little too mundane? Then imagine doing it not on the ground, but high up in the treetops at heights ranging from 2 meters to 35 meters. If that thought makes your heart race, then you’ve come to the right place.

The Zillertal-Kaltenbach Adventure Park is the largest, most challenging, and most spectacular nature adventure park for all ages.

Paragliding

“Above the clouds, freedom must surely be boundless!” How right the author of this famous song lyric—the singer Reinhard Mey—was. Whether you love to sing or not, you definitely shouldn’t miss the chance to put this to the test. Pay a visit to the tandem pilot and take to the skies on a paraglider. Not feeling the ground beneath your feet can be so exhilarating that you’ll want to float on and on. Let yourself be carried by the thermals and experience the element of air like never before. The Zillertal from a bird’s-eye view—it’s a sight you simply must see.

Arena-Coaster

Roller coasters are actually most commonly found in amusement parks, from Coney Island to Vienna’s Wurstelprater. In the Zillertal, however, the Alpine Roller Coaster is a rare exception. The “Arena-Coaster” is 1,450 meters long, and along this one-and-a-half-kilometer-long, high-speed ride, it offers everything a roller coaster enthusiast could possibly want—from chicanes to steep curves. It’s not just your kids who’ll be thrilled. Once you’ve wound your way along the tracks through the forest to the valley station, the next attraction is already waiting for you: the Bagjump. This oversized air cushion is made to be jumped on. Gather all your courage, jump from a lofty height, and don’t worry a thing.

Family adventures in the Zillertal this Summer

Adventurous holiday

In the Zillertal, a family adventure awaits around every bend: exciting nature trails, thrilling summer attractions, crystal-clear mountain lakes, and plenty of space to play, explore, and enjoy time together. That’s exactly what a memorable vacation feels like.

Spectacular birds of prey show in the Zillertal

King of the skies

Hardly any animal is as fascinating as the eagle: powerful, elegant, and usually only visible from a great distance. At the AdlerBühne Ahorn in Mayrhofen, you can get surprisingly close to the kings of the skies.

At 2,000 meters above sea level – Europe’s highest-altitude raptor center – eagles, eagle owls, and falcons soar spectacularly in circles above visitors’ heads during the raptor shows. Dives, rapid flight maneuvers, and impressive wingspans make the roughly one-hour show an experience for young and old alike. The whole event is accompanied by fascinating insights from the falconers into the animals’ lives.

Alpine Delights

Sun-warmed wood, the aroma of Kaiserschmarrn, and a table with a view of the mountains: stopping for a break at a mountain hut is simply part of a summer in the Zillertal Alps.

Amid rustic alpine pastures and cozy sun-drenched terraces, regional specialties, fresh Brettljausen, and sweet hut classics taste just that much better.
